Vaccine Production and Procurement
- Three million vaccine doses, including DTP-IPV-Hib, MMR and hepatitis B, are needed for the National Immunisation Programme every year.
- Three million doses of influenza vaccine are made available annually to supply general practitioners within the National Programme for Prevention of Influenza. - Vaccines for travellers are distributed via the Municipal Health Services (e.g. the ACWY meningitis vaccine for Hadj travellers).
- Vaccines for use in calamity situations (e.g. rabies infection) are made available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- NVI supplies vaccines for special programmes, for example, the meningococcal C campaign geared to the Dutch population under 18. The Institute has also manufactured a smallpox vaccine that will offer the population protection from a bio-terrorist attack.
- NVI facilitates an emergency stock of antivirals and rapid vaccine supply for protecting the Dutch population against a flu pandemic.
